Darlene Gladys Aberly

Darlene Aberly, 80, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2024, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls. Darlene was born April 21, 1944, in Crystal Falls to Kenneth and Gladys (Mercier) Aberly. She graduated from Crystal Falls High School, Class of 1962. Shortly after graduation she moved to Wisconsin where she worked for various businesses and finished her college degree in business management at Carroll College at the age of 50. Darlene was very proud of that accomplishment. She lived most of her adult life in Waukesha, WI, where she worked as a parts manager for International Harvester until her retirement. She then built a new home on Hope Mine Rd. and moved back to Crystal Falls to care for her mother. After her mother’s passing, she also took care of her aunt, Dot Mercier. Darlene was very active outside. She liked to play softball, golf, run in 5K runs and go on peaceful walks. Taking care of her house was something she took great pride in. In her younger years, she enjoyed a Harley ride. Dar loved to listen to the “oldies” music and would often have dance parties with Dot. She loved the NFL draft and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings. Family meant a lot to Darlene; she always wanted the best for her nieces and nephews. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Duane, and brother David Aberly. She is survived by her brother, Don (Donna) Aberly; ex-sister-in-law, Sue Aberly; nieces and nephews, Diane (David) Bremer, Daniel (Candice Kasson) Aberly, Darwyn Aberly and Dean (Jill) Aberly; great-nieces and nephews, Kirsten Bremer, Jon Bremer, Dylan Aberly, Ayanna Aberly, Josh (Micheala) Aberly, Niki (Tanor) Moffit, Derek (Alli) Aberly, Zach (Jackie) Aberly and Megan Aberly; great-great nieces, Laura Bremer and Lauren Aberly; and a special ex-niece, Joy Stachowicz. A Memorial Service will be held on August 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. Pastor Vicky Prewitt will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her memory.
