Dorothy LaChapelle

Dorothy LaChapelle, 85, of Crystal Falls, MI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls. She was born February 11, 1933 in East Tawas, MI, daughter of the late Richard and Ann (Schmidt) Look. Dorothy graduated from East Tawas High School in 1951 and earned a Certification in X-Ray Technology from St. Clair Training Hospital in Port Huron, MI. She married Eugene LaChapelle on November 6, 1954 and they raised 5 children together. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2009. She loved to bake bread, pasties and sugar twists. Dorothy enjoyed traveling to St. Vincent DePaul seminars, visit to her sisters and family in Tawas and trips to Hawaii. She volunteered many hours at the Iron County Medicare Facility. Dorothy was a member of the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul, and the Michigan Society of Radiologic Technologists. Preceded in death by granddaughter, Alexendra LaChapelle, two brothers, Harold and Kenneth Look; three sisters, Lucille Cummings, Marge Miller, and Virginia Hulea. Dorothy is survived by five children, Paul (Connie) LaChapelle of Littleton, CO, Bryan (Diane) LaChapelle of Crystal Falls, MI, Nick (Jean) LaChapelle of Crystal Falls, MI, Pamela (Fred) Coburn of Littleton, CO, and Jeffrey (Rebecca) LaChapelle of Crystal Falls, MI; 13 Grandchildren, Meaghan LaChapelle (Chris), Colton LaChapelle, Samantha (Dave) Meek, Eric Coburn, Adam Coburn, Bryan LaChapelle, Jr., Kristin (Todd) Williams, Kaitlin LaChapelle, Valerie LaChapelle, Lea LaChapelle, Eli LaChapelle, Sara LaChapelle, Joey LaChapelle; 3 great grandchildren Lexi and Lizzy LaChapelle and Blake Coburn; one brother, Dick (Dehlia) Look; four sisters, Mary Jean Groff, Millie Kaems, Joan VanSumeran, and Lois Perry. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and a special friend, Helga Lange. Friends may call from 9am-11am on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 11:30 am at the Guardian Angels Church in Crystal Falls. Fr. Daniel Malone will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul or Guardian Angels Catholic Church.
