Dorothy West

Dorothy West, 81 of Gilbert, AZ passed into Eternal Life on February 18, 2016. Dorothy, known to many by “Sweetie” was born Dorothy Turrie on October 14, 1934 inIron Mountain, MI. She spent the majority of her adult life in Crystal Falls, MI and Iron Mountain, MI. She retired from The Crystal Falls Community Hospital in 1993, where she worked in the Dialysis Unit. Dorothy enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and very special friend to all. Special times were had at Runkle Lake in Crystal Falls where she resided for over 45 years. She loved to have family gatherings and preparing wonderful meals for all 9 children and their families, sisters and brothers and guests. Dorothy and Ray moved to Iron Mountain, MI in 2003 where they resided for 10 years before settling in Gilbert, AZ near their youngest daughter, Darcy Stebbins. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Ray West. She leaves behind her children and step-children, Chris West of Crystal Falls MI, Denise (Stan) Laird of Daphne AL, Sara (Rob) Moore of Soldotna AK, David (Janice) DeNell of Fenton MI, Jennifer (Mike) Harrington of Marquette, MI, Darryl (Beth) DeNell of Crystal Falls MI, Jeffrey West of Crystal Falls MI, Stuart West (deceased), Darcy Stebbins (Randy Robbins) of Gilbert, AZ. Her grandchildren, Shelby, Tony, Samantha, Melissa, Steven, Ryan, Jimmy, Amanda, Mindy, Jacob, Blake, Kyle, Patrick, Michael, Kaylee and Dylan. Great-grandchildren, Karissa, Darren, Ethan, Kylie, Bradyn, Her sisters, Marilyn Laydon and Margaret Goudreau and her brother, David Turrie. There will be a “Celebration of Dorothy’s Life” on Friday, May 27, 2016. A Memorial Mass will be offered at Guardian Angels Catholic Church at 10:00am with Fr. Jose Maramattam officiating. Following mass there will be a reception downstairs in the church hall.
