Henry (Jim) "Dedo" Maki

Henry (Jim) “Dedo” Maki, 68 of Amasa passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette. He was born on February 26, 1948 in Amasa, son of the late Henry Christian and Mae Irene (Sjogren) Maki. He attended school in Amasa, graduating from Amasa High School in 1966. He went on to attend Northern Michigan University graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Forestry. Jim was a lifelong resident of Amasa. He went to work for the Magiglide Company, and has worked with them for more than 45 years. Jim married Terry Ketola at their home in Amasa on September 22, 1995, and had spent nearly 22 wonderful years together. He was a longtime and faithful volunteer fireman for the Amasa Fire Department. In his free time he loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grand children. He was a very loving husband, and devoted dad and we’ll miss him forever. He loved being in the woods, especially hunting, fishing, and cutting wood. He was an avid Detroit Lions fan and Johnny Cash Fan, with whom he shared a birthday with. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Terry Maki of Amasa; a daughter, Heather Maki of Chicago; Step children, Dan Davison and BobbyJo Davison both of Crystal Falls; Grandchildren, Jordyn Rae Rajala, Gauge Gould and Charleigh Gould; his brother, Terrance (Rosalie) Maki of Owatonna, MN; Mother and Father in—law, Nancy (Tony) Stankewicz of Crystal falls; Brothers and sisters in-law, Sandy (Bill) Novey of Crystal falls, Dennis Ketola of Iron River, Barbara Ketola of Iron Mountain, Larry (Ann) Ketola of Amasa; he is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; he was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Mae and Arthur Ryerson; his aunt Millie and uncle Earl Cornelia. The visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Bruce Tusa will officiate. The Amasa Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a Pass and Review at 1:45pm. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his memory.
