Jeremiah D. "Jerry" McCarthy

Jeremiah Dennis McCarthy, 84, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Monday , August 17, 2015 in hospice care at his home after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was born July, 20, 1931 in Downers Grove, IL son of the late Cornelius and Delia (McGrath) McCarthy. Jerry Married Mary (Sansonetti) on April 15, 1967 and they resided in Downers Grove until 1991 when they moved to Crystal Falls. Jerry worked the construction trade and retired from the Teamsters Union in 1991. He was always there for his family and helped them anyway he could. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW. He was a member of Guardian Angels Church in Crystal Falls. He loved animals and always has had a dog or 2 in his home. Jerry is survived by four children, Patrick John (Marylee) McCarthy of Crystal Falls, Lori Ann Mengler of Crystal Falls, Michael John McCarthy of Crystal Falls and Jerry Wade, Known as TJ ( Cindy Stievenart ) of Iron River; 12 grandchildren, Candice Marie, Mary Patricia (John Schultz), David Jr., Matthew (Katie), Joshua, Jessica, Nickolas, Christoper, Tyler, Luke, Raymond and Jessica; three great grandchildren, Destiny, Johnny and Sophia; one sister, Catherine Condon of Florissant, MO; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Horace and Patricia Shelton of Tennessee and Bob and Caroline Bauer of Illinois; many nieces and nephews; and his loving pets Crystal and Bennie. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his son, David, son in law, Gary Mengler, daughter in law Cleo; two grandsons, Patrick John Jr and Stevie Ray McCarthy; sister, Rita Martin, brothers, Michael (Joe) and Neil; sister in law, Edna Mae: brothers in law, Ed Martin and Ed Condon; and mother and father in law, Pat and Mildred (Desantis) Sansonetti. Visitation will take place on Friday from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be at 11:30am on Friday at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Fr. Raymond Valerio will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers , memorials may be made to the Northwoods Animal Shelter of Iron River or The St. Vincent DePaul of Crystal Falls or the donors charity of choice.
