Loraine Heikkinen

Loraine H. Heikkinen, 72, of Crystal Falls, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2010, at Marquette General Hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1937, in Detroit, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Hannah (Petrelius) Clark. Loraine graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1954. She married J. Norman Heikkinen on Oct. 22, 1954, in Detroit. They have been back in Crystal Falls since 1990.Loraine was a member of Bethany Lutheran church and the Bethany Quilters. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Crystal View Golf Course. She enjoyed playing golf and loved playing nearly any card game. Loraine also spent time crocheting slippers that she donated to our military troops. Norman and Loraine enjoyed the many winters they spent in central Florida. She is survived by her husband, J. Norman; her children, Marie Heikkinen of Pinckney, Mich. and Brett Heikkinen of Norway; two brothers, Glenn (Rosemary) Huovinen of The Villages, Fla. and Willis (Barbara) Clark of Memphis, Mich.; brothers and sisters-in- law, Jenny Clark of Mt. Vernon, Ill.. Helen Baakko of Houghton, Lillian Kehus of Houghton, Bruce (Helen) Heikkinen of Warren, Mich., Wesley (Anita) Heikkinen of Wauwatosa, Wis., Paul (Paulette) Heikkinen of Baraga, Jean Lehto of Houghton,Janet (Robert) Olson of Tapiola, Mich., Linda Wanhala of Iron Mountain, Dianne (Lee) Jurva of Pelkie, Mich. and Robert Heikkinen (Melani) of Sparks, Nev. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Loraine was preceded in death by three children, Keith, Brian and Ronald Heikkinen and two brothers, Clarence (Lisa) Huovinen and Robert Clark. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Amasa. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church. Pastor Kevin Kaiser will officiate Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Bethany Lutheran Church or the Cystic Fibrosis Assoc.
