Mary McCarthy

Mary A. McCarthy, 71, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Marquette General Hospital. She was born June 23, 1939 in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Pasquail and Mildred (DeSantis) Sansonetti. Mary married Jerry McCarthy on April 15, 1967 and they resided in Downers Grove, IL until 1991 when they moved to Crystal Falls. She was a very giving person and volunteered many hours at schools and homeless shelters while living in Illinois. She was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Crystal Falls. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and making afghans which she gave to many family members. Mary was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and absolutely loved Brett Favre. Mary is survived by her husband, Jerry of Crystal Falls; five children, David Lee McCarthy of Caspian, Patrick John (Mary Lee) McCarthy of Crystal Falls, Lori Ann (Gary) Mangler of Cicero, IL, Michael John McCarthy of Lisle, IL and Jerry Wade (fiancé, Melissa Menapace) McCarthy of Iron River; 11 grandchildren, Candice Marie, Mary Patricia (fiance` John Schultz), David Jr., Matthew (Katie), Joshua, Jessica, Nickolas, Christopher, Tyler, and Luke; daughters-in-law, Jessica Bryant McCarthy of Iron River and Sally McCarthy of Crystal Falls; son-in-law, Paul Wenig of Lemont, IL; one great grandchild, Destiny; three sisters, Patricia (Horace) Shelton of Romeoville, IL; Emily Greco of Rolling Meadows, IL, Caroline (Bob) Bauer of Streamwood, IL; brother-in-law, Ed Martin of Downers Grove, IL; sister-in-law, Catherine Condon of Florisant, MO; and many nieces, nephews and her loving pets Rosie and Big Bird. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cleo McCarthy; two grandsons, Patrick John Jr. and Stevie Ray McCarthy; sisters-in-law, Rita Martin and Edna Mae McCarthy; and brothers-in-law, Michael Joseph and Neil McCarthy. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00am at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be at 11:30am at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Fr. Jeffrey Kurtz will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or the donor’s charity of choice. Condolences to the family of Mary A.
