Neil Dishaw

Neil G. Dishaw, 77, of Mansfield Twp., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 16th following a long illness. He was born on February 16, 1936 in Sagola, son of Glenn and Verna (McGregor) Dishaw. Neil graduated from Channing High School in 1953. After serving in the United States Air Force, he returned to Sagola where he met and married Patricia Zavada on May 2, 1959. They had 53 wonderful years of marriage and raised six children. Neil worked for several mining companies, before retiring from the Cleveland Cliffs Mine in 1998. He enjoyed golf, gardening, making firewood and watching Green Bay Packer Football. He was especially proud of his potatoes and corn, often sharing his harvest with family and friends. Neil was also active in the community as part of the Mansfield Memories Committee and the Mansfield Choir. There were many other ways he served his community which included supporting his wife in a wide variety of local projects. Neil was preceded in death by his father, Glenn, a brother, Lyle Dishaw and his very special dog "Bubby". He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; their children, Shirley (Randy) Dishaw Beck of Mansfield, Sharon (Mark) Nickels of Mansfield, Mike (Tina) Dishaw of Mansfield, Pete Dishaw of Mansfield, Joe (Kim) Dishaw of Homestead, WI and Katherine (Gordon) Springberg of Hurley, WI; his mother, Verna Dishaw of Crystal Falls; brothers, Duane (Elaine) Dishaw of Racine, WI and Brad Dishaw of Sagola; a sister, Karen (Keith) Rust of Buffalo, MN; eleven grandchildren, Daniel, Katherine, Kimberly and David Beck, Jeff and Sarah Nickels, Brooke and Dustin Dishaw, Nicholas Dishaw and Michael and Matthew Dishaw Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 20th from 4:00-8:00pm at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls and from 10:00-11:00am Thursday, March 21st at Grace Presbyterian Church in Sagola. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am Thursday at the church. Rev. David Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in the family cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to, St. Vincent-DePaul of Crystal Falls or the Northwoods Animal Shelter of Iron River.
