Robert "Bub" Ketola

Robert “Bub” Ketola, 100% Finn from Amasa MI, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 63. He was born on October 29, 1953 in Crystal Falls, son of the late Eino M. and Lula E. (Koivisto) Ketola. He attended school in Crystal Falls, graduating from Forest Park High School in 1971. Bub was a lifelong resident of Amasa. He married Bonnie Conn on January 18, 1975 in Waukegan, Illinois, spending nearly 43 wonderful years together. Bub worked as a Machine Operator at Louisiana Pacific, until his retirement on December 19, 2015. Whether it was for himself or his friends, working in the woods as a logger was his true calling. He was a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was a baseball fan, and an avid Detroit Tiger, Detroit Lion and all around Michigan Sports fan. Bub realized a childhood dream, building his dream camp on the Net River. He enjoyed his time spent at camp and in the woods where he loved to hunt and fish. He was at his happiest spending time with family and friends socializing, telling stories and making people laugh. Bub was complete when his two grandsons were born. Being a papa brought him true happiness. Bub is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Ketola of Amasa; daughters, Desiree Sabine (Jamie Maki-Fiancé) of Paddock Lake, Wisconsin and Sommer Ketola of Amasa; Grandsons, Zachary and Lucas Sabine; Brothers and sisters, Dave (Geri) Ketola of Crystal Falls, Susan (Larry) Schiavo of Crystal Falls, James (Betty) Ketola of Amasa, Jerry (Elaine) Ketola of Little Suamico, WI, Linda Besiak of Amasa, and Phil (Peggy) Ketola of Crystal Falls; he is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was preceded in death by a nephew, Tommy Ketola; a brother in-law, Barry Besiak; and a sister in-law, Susan Morin. The visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pmat the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. The Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Pastor Curt Spicer will officiate. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in his memory.
