Shelly Grengs

AMASA - Shelly Lynn Grengs, 45, of Hematite Township (Amasa), went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2009, at her home. She was born Aug. 18, 1964, in L'Anse, daughter of the late Jerry and Lois Parkins. Shelly attended school at Crystal Falls Forest Park Schools. She earned her GED and later continued her education, earning her LPN license. She married Max Grengs on Aug. 23, 1990. Shelly worked at Crystal Manor and most recently at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. She was currently enrolled at Bay College working toward her registered nurse license, which she would have achieved in December. Shelly loved her work and her co-workers. She brought a special joy to the lives she touched there. She was loved by many and her light will forever shine in our hearts. She deeply loved her children and enjoyed sharing many activities with them, including fishing, attending concerts and rollerblading. She also enjoyed kayaking and tattoo artistry. Shelly was a member of Guardian Angels Church in Crystal Falls. She is survived by two daughters, Andrea and Janelle; three sons, Marcel, Pierre and Benoit, all at home; two sisters, Jenny (Heath) Tullier of Iron River and Mandy (Todd) Lindahl of Iron River; grandparents, Watson and Helen Hurley of Crystal Falls; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is also survived by three stepchildren, Nick (Jill) Grengs, Max Grengs II and Theresa (Tom) Anderson and six stepgrandchildren. Shelly was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Lois Parkins; a brother, Jerry Parkins; an infant sister, Sherry Lois; and her grandparents, Josh and Lillian Parkins. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Nash Funeral Home of Crystal Falls. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Guardian Angels Church. Fr. Jeffrey Kurtz will offer the Mass of the Christian burial. Burial will be in the Amasa Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Shelly's memory to Children of Shelly Grengs Memorial Fund at the CoVantage Credit Union.
