Donald Stanley Virostek, 87, of Amasa, died on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI. He was born January 25, 1929 in Amasa, son of the late John and Stella (Pjontek) Virostek. Donald was a lifelong resident of Amasa and attended the Amasa schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. Donald married Elizabeth Dlhy in 1964 at St. Jane De Chantel Church in Chicago. She preceded him in death in 1996. He worked for Cleveland Cliffs CCI for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. Donald was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. He enjoyed rock collecting, hunting, fishing, and playing bingo. In addition to his wife Betty and his parents, Donald was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Steve and Carl and two sisters, MargaretVirostek and Mary (Louis) Turek. Donald is survived by a sister in law, Marilyn Virostek of Chicago, IL; a niece, Renee (Alan) Kraft of Valparaiso, IN; two nephews, Robert (Kathy) Virostek and John Virostek, both of Chicago, IL. Also survived by one grand niece, Alison (Daniel) Mills. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Nash funeral Home in Crystal Falls. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon at the St. Agnes Church. Fr. Gregory Veneklas will offer the Mass of the Christian Burial. Full military honors will be accorded by the Eastside Veterans. Burial will be in the Amasa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial to the Eastside Veterans. Burial will be in the Hematite Township Cemetery.
