Lucille Jane Halls, 89, lifelong resident of Stambaugh passed away on June 16, 2011 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. Lucille was born on March 3, 1922 to Eli and Bessie (Pearce) Johns in Stambaugh. She attended Stambaugh schools and graduated from Stambaugh High in 1939. She married Ward G. Halls on June 4, 1941 and together they raised 4 children. Ward preceded her in death in 1975. Lucille filled her life with community involvement including past member and 2 time Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, serving on the Stambaugh Election Board, active member in the Wesley United Methodist Church, working at the American Red Cross and active member of the Iron River Senior Citizen Center. Lucille is survived by her children, Ward Halls Jr., Jean (Gary) Gollakner, and Shirley Moades; 1 daughter-in-law, Lorraine Halls, 3 sisters, Doris Robinson, Louise Temple, and Betty. Lucille, Grandma Lu, was blessed with nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Lucille leaves behind her friend, Tommy Brooks, who she shared many childhood and lifetime memories. Lucille was preceded in death by her son, Dean Halls in 2007 and by her siblings, William, Benjamin, Norman, Dorothy Anderson, Olive Christian. Friends may call from 11am until 1:00pm Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be held on Monday June 20, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Nash Funeral Home. Pastor Roberta Willson will officiate. Interment will be at the Stambaugh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
