Norma Jarvis

October 15, 1924 - October 15, 2012

Norma Jarvis, 88, died on Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. Norma was born on December 20, 1923 in Amasa, Michigan, the daughter of Jack and Fanny (Saario) Koski. Norma attended Amasa High School and graduated in 1941. She married Francis Jarvis in 1942. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2000. The couple made their home in the Gibson Lake area of Crystal Falls Township. Norma worked many jobs over the years, including the Crystal Manor, Amasa Mill, Dr. Ted Ludwig's office and the American Can Company. Following her retirement, she and Fran spent many enjoyable years between their home at Gibson Lake and their camp on the Net River. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1992. She was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Amasa. She enjoyed fishing, camping, snowmobiling, bird hunting, gardening and doing word puzzles. She was an ardent reader and an avid Packer fan. Norma is survived by two sons, Jerry of Marquette, Jim (Bev) of Marquette; one daughter, Kelly (Allan) Ziehl of Menomonie, WI; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Larry of Amasa; three sisters, Wilma Olson of Amasa, Donna (Brian) Connolly of Green Bay, WI, and Sharon Zimny of Amasa; many nieces and nephews; and her loving companion--her little dog, Bailey. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Arthur, Jackie, Roy and Donald (Buddy); two sisters, Viola and Ruth; and her daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Jarvis. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 am Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Amasa, MI. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday at the church. Rev. Kevin Kaiser will officiate. Burial will be in the Hematite Township Cemetery, Amasa, MI. The family has entrusted the Nash Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Crystal Falls with the arrangements.
