Raymond Matson

Raymond R. Matson, 69, of Crystal Falls, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at his home. Raymond was born Nov. 7, 1941, in Crystal Falls, son of the late Jalmer and Impi (Kettula) Matson. He was a 1960 graduate of the Crystal Falls High School. Upon graduation, Raymond moved to Rockford, Ill. where he worked various jobs in construction. He also lived in Chicago, Green Bay, Wis. and the Iron Mountain area before moving back to Crystal Falls in 1967. He worked construction for Fayas and Sons until his retirement. Raymond was an avid Forest Park football fan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the woods, and feeding the wildlife around his home. He was a fan of NASCAR, cheering on the Miller Lite drivers and also was a member of the Swan Lake Skeet Club. Raymond loved being with his family and grandchildren and will be deeply missed. Raymond is survived by one son, Kurt (Katherine) Matson of Farmington, Mich.; daughters, Kim (John) Mastie of Crystal Falls and Ginger (James "Stoney") Wilson of Crystal Falls; grandchildren, Brandi Wilson and Dana and Michele Matson. Visitation will be held Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory may be made to the Iron County Medical Facility or the Forest Park Booster Club. Condolences to the family of Raymond R.
