Carol Louise Snell

Carol Louise (Ollila) Snell, 79, passed away on March 17, 2022, at Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI. She was born on October 4th, 1942, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, daughter of Anna Louise Ollila & Raymond Henry Ollila. Carol graduated from Forest Park High School in 1960. She later married Howard (Chuck) Snell on April 15th, 1961, and had 4 children: Howard, Laura, Robert & Jodi. Chuck served a life career in the Army which resulted in the family traveling the world. Some of the places they lived were Texas (2 times), Germany (2 times) and Georgia. While living in Germany, Carol volunteered her time and home to provide foster care for the children in the community. Carol’s selflessness, concern and endless supply of love have created living memorials to the children she served. Carol and Chuck divorced in 1986 at which time she moved back to Crystal Falls to be closer to her family. She started working at the Crystal Manor Care as a full time CNA in 1990 and transferred to Iron County Medical Care Facility until 2005 when she retired, but then continued as a volunteer. She is survived by her sister, Nancy (Gerald) Kohls; children, Howard (Belinda) Snell, Laura (Jim) Sartori, Robert Snell, and Jodi Jauquet (Ken); grandchildren, Justin Snell (Kayla), Austin (Miranda) Snell, Tahoney (Tim) Anderson, Ashley (Keith) Metz, Raven Snell (Jordan), Scott (Ashley) Hoffman, Kody Hoffman (Jessica), Alex Jauquet, Jessica (Ryan) Neyrink, and Jasmine (Aidan) Joseph; 18 great-grandchildren; Aunt Helen Ollila; Cousin Thomas Ollila; and the Iron County Medical Care Facility, who was her 2nd family for the past 8 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anna & Raymond Ollila, and grandson, Tyler Hoffman. Carol was thoughtful, considerate, supportive, loving, kind and genuine, and she will be truly missed by all. There will be a private family service in the fall at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
