John Arthur Ketola

John Arthur Ketola, 47, of Crystal Falls, MI, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness with his mother, Arline, at his side on Sunday July 24th, 2022, at Spectrum Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. John was born April 3rd, 1975, to James Kantola and Arline Ketola Hund. He attended Forest Park School and graduated from Kingsford High School. John was quiet and fun to be around with a good sense of humor. He enjoyed listening to music, watching the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers, visiting with family and friends, and more than anything he loved spending time with his two little girls. John loved being outdoors. He liked riding in the woods taking in nature, shooting his gun, or fishing. He had a love for animals and always had a dog or two, including Awesome and Dexter, and Bob the cat. John had a passion for cooking and worked many places as a chef at The Blind Duck, Big Boy, Chippewa Club, Hollywood Supper Club, Hersh's West, and The Florence Villa. He was a loving son, father, brother and uncle. John is survived by his father, James of Covington, MI, and mother, Arline Ketola Hund of Crystal Falls, MI; his children, Zoe of Houghton, MI, Alexander of Yuma, Arizona, and Esmae and Bexley of Kingsford, MI; two sisters, Jennifer Knapp of Iron River, MI and Jamie Stankevich of Iron Mountain, MI; a brother, Justin Phillips of Stevenson, MI; and godparents, Christine and Ken Peltoma of Iron Mountain, MI and Denise Hiltonen of Amasa, MI. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Sonya Ketola, and aunt, Nancy Pete. A Celebration of Life for John will be on Saturday September 17th, 2022, at 349 Parks Farm Road, Amasa, MI starting at 2:00 p.m. "Johnny, my first born, how you will be missed but never forgotten. I love you, Mom.” Memorials may be made in his memory.
