Robert "Skeets" Klima, Sr.

Robert J. Klima Robert “Skeets” Klima, 72, of Alpha, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. Robert was born September 14, 1943 in Alpha, Michigan, son of the late Walter and Patricia (King) Klima. He was raised in this area, but left to pursue work in construction at International Harvester in Chicago. Robert was there for fifteen years before returning to Alpha. He owned and operated a gas station named Mileage in the location of Winks Woods in Crystal Falls for many years. Robert married Sharon Kukura on Feb. 8, 1986 in Crystal Falls. He served as the manager for the Village of Alpha for three years and then became the Foreman for Mastodon Township for the next ten years until his retirement. Robert was a devoted volunteer fire fighter. He served as a Fireman with the Alpha Fire Department for ten years and as Fire Chief for two years. His true passion was for hunting and fishing. He not only enjoyed all the outdoor activities available locally, but also had travelled to Alaska and Africa on hunting and fishing adventures. Robert loved spending time at his camp (Skeets Camp A-C-T-I-O-N). He was a member of United Lutheran Church, Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Assoc. and the Alpha-holics motorcycle club. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his children, Robert Klima Jr. of Wasilla, Alaska, Brian (Kathy) Klima of San Antonio, Texas, Brenda (Joe) Thoe of Appleton, WI and Medea (Clifford) Klima of Iron Mountain; a brother, Walter Klima of Crystal Falls; seven grandchildren, Ashley Klima, Dominic and Katelyn Klima, Amanda Thoe, Alexis and Joseph Schneider, Tristan Klima-Huffman; also by his best buddy, his dog Candy. Visitation will be Thursday, April 7th from 11:30am-2:30pm at the United Lutheran Church in Crystal Falls. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 Thursday at the church. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate. The Alpha Fire Department will conduct a Pass and Review at 2:15 PM on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Gus Zurawski, David Wysopal, David Stanek and Jack Kukura.
